International Democracy day

International Day of Democracy was initiated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007. India can be called the world's largest democracy, because here about 600 million people vote and choose the government. International Day of Democracy was first celebrated in 2008.

There are two systems of democracy in the whole world. One is the parliamentary system of government and the other is the presidential system. In these systems, the people exercise their franchise and elect their representative for their country, who honestly works for the people.

India, Canada, England and Australia have a parliamentary form of government and the US has a presidential system. In the parliamentary system of government, the President does not have full power whereas in the presidential system, all the decisions are taken by the President.

The country became independent in 1947, now after this the Constituent Assembly unanimously expressed its desire to make a democratic country, the first elections were held in 1951-1952. Democracy is the link due to which the country is tied in one thread even after so much diversity. The most important thing about democracy is that here people can keep their point openly to the government. They can express their protest peacefully.
